Canyon Country is a community at the eastern border of the city of Santa Clarita. It first received its name in the 1960's when the Canyon Country post office opened in 1968 near Solimint Junction - near Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway. The second tract of homes built in the Santa Clarita Valley was the North Oaks tract, which was began construction in 1961 when the 1800 acre 6-S Ranch was sold to a developer.
Now there are many housing tracts in Canyon Country from the original North Oaks tract to large hill side executive homes with views of the valleys and canyons.
Sand Canyon, an area of Canyon Country, includes MacMillan Ranch, a guard gated community of custom luxury homes, the gated community of Robinson Ranch Estates and the Robinson Ranch Golf Course.
The master planned community of Fair Oaks Ranch built by Pardee Homes is also in the Canyon Country area of Santa Clarita.
Due to the topography of the eastern part of the Santa Clarita Valley, many homes in Canyon Country offer amazing views, and in the spring time, after a rain, the hills are emerald green and bring to mind story book settings.
A neighborhood in Canyon Country called The Rainbow Glen area consists of condos at American Beauty Village, and the single family homes of American Beauty Classics, California Summit, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Rainbow Glen Estates, Shadow Oaks, Sunset Hills Signature, and Sunset Hills Estates.
The community of Canyon Country offers shopping, restaurants, movie theaters, a library, the east campus of College of the Canyons, and easy access to the 14 freeway for commuters.
