Saugus a Community in Santa Clarita, CA
The town of Saugus was established in 1887, and was named by the local land owner, Henry Mayo Newhall, after his hometown of Saugus, Massachusetts. This was the same year that the Saugus Train Station was built which was located near the intersection of present day Magic Mountain Parkway and Bouquet Canyon Road.
The old Saugus School House which opened in 1908, located near the present intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Bouquet Canyon had a school bell housed in a tower, which is now located at the Jan Heidt Metrolink Station in downtown Newhall.

The 3.1 mile cross country trail located within Central Park is very popular for casual day hiking, dog walking, and bike riding right in the center of town, and new addition to the course, the Central Park Trail, connects Central Park to Newhall Ranch Road.
Mountasia Family Fun Centre is popular among residents and visitors to the area. They feature bumper boats, go-karts, laser tag, and mini-golf. There is also an ice cream shop. The nearby Santa Clarita Aquatics Center has a large swimming pool. The center offers program passes, swim lessons, and party rentals. In the summer there are youth swimming teams.
Saugus High School is rated 9 out of 10, as is local Arroyo Seco Junior High School. The elementary schools in the community are also highly rated, including Mountainview Elementary School and Emblem Academy which are both rated 8 out of 10.
